The course of true love may never run smooth, but seldom has it hit quite as many bumps, potholes and land mines as it does in Patricia Motto’s journey to find the meaning of that all important four letter word.

Patricia Motto’s first published work came in the Byford Booster when, at the age of six, she wowed her teacher with two complete correctly punctuated sentences. Since then she has at various times taught composition at the college level, made sort of a living as a freelance writer and, because she became fond of nice meals out, graduated from law school and became an attorney specializing in sexual harassment. Her one act play,“The Cousins’ Book Club,” won major awards at the Watermelon One Act Festival in Maryland and has been produced by the Open Door Playhouse in Los Angeles and... Read More

  • The truly remarkable thing about Patricia Motto’s story – a tale related via the men of the moment in her life at each point in time – is that it has practically nothing to do with men. It’s an often hilarious, occasionally bittersweet story of a spirited everywoman coming of age in the 60’s and 70’s who bangs her head on every opportunity and challenge that comes her way.

Summary

The course of true love may never run smooth, but seldom has it hit quite as many bumps, potholes and land mines as it does in Patricia Motto’s journey to find the meaning of that all important four letter word.

Love.

Beginning with the beautiful eyes of a kindergarten boy at nap time and continuing to the man for whom she did not get off the plane, there are stops along the way for, among others, a first kiss boyfriend, the American League’s Most Valuable Player and a twice convicted armed robber.

Sometimes hilarious, sometimes heartbreaking, the trip is never dull.

Here’s a Q&A with author Patricia Motto.

  • Patricia Motto’s keen sense of humor shines through, even at the worst of time, throughout each chapter as she recounts herself navigating the world of love and the ups and downs of each new relationship. I doubt many readers will not be able to identify with her journey of awareness as her constrictive, conservative convictions break away and she finds acceptance of herself and the world she shares with others.
