If you’ve ever ordered a book from Eckhartz Press, you may have noticed that the e-receipt lists us as “Just One Bad Century, Inc.”
It’s true, that is our corporate name. A few years before we began Eckhartz Press, we founded a website about the Chicago Cubs called Just One Bad Century. The year it was founded was 2008, the 100th anniversary of the Cubs last World Series title. The site focused on Cubs history, trying to figure out how such an anomaly could have occured. We still haven’t figured it out, but the site is doing quite well, especially this season as the Cubs celebrate the 100th anniversary of Wrigley Field.
If you’re a Cubs fan you may enjoy some of Just One Bad Century’s regular features…
This Week in Wrigley History
A look at some of the most memorable Cubs games and events at Wrigley Field. At least one event in history for every day of the baseball season.
Historical Events: Where were the Cubs?
When your team is 142 years old, they’ve seen it all. We wondered what the Cubs were up to on important dates in Chicago, American, and International history. There’s one for every day of baseball season.
This Week in 1908
A chance to pretend like you’re following a winner, with historical explanations to help you along the way.
This Week in 1945
At least they’ll be going to the World Series, right?
Today’s Cubs Birthdays
Every single Cubs player from history is chronicled on their birthdays. No one is too obscure.
There’s a lot more on the site, including a daily video (The A/V Club), some Wrigley memories, The Count-up Clock which charts exactly how many days, hours, minutes and seconds it’s been since the Cubs won it all (at this writing, it’s 38521 days 12 hours 28 minutes 45 seconds) and some great Just One Bad Century merchandise.
Check it out if you’re a Cubs fan. You’ll really enjoy it. If you aren’t a Cubs fan, at least you know now why your e-receipt says Just One Bad Century, Inc.
