Thanks so much to Larz at Chicagoland Radio & Media for this nice write up about the upcoming Eckhartz Press book, “Father Knows Nothing”. Here’s an excerpt of that piece…
Rick Kaempfer, the well-known blogger, author, and 20-year Chicago radio veteran, will be publishing a book featuring dozens of humorous stories about his adventures as a Dad to three sons. Kaempfer’s “Father Knows Nothing” will be released on November 28th.
Rick Kaempfer is, of course, the former radio producer for Chicago radio legends Steve Dahl and Garry Meier (1987-1991) and John Records Landecker (1993-2003), among others. He also hosted and co-hosted his own radio shows on WLUP-FM/AM. After two decades in radio, Kaempfer walked away to focus on raising his family, writing, co-owning an advertising agency that specialized in creative radio ads, and other pursuits.
With three young boys at home, Kaempfer’s #1 job was that as a stay-home father. A skilled writer, Kaempfer would blog about his boys and his funny observations on parenting them. Soon after, in 2005, the Northwest Indiana Times reached out to Kaempfer and asked him if he would be willing to turn those blogs into a parenting column for them. Kaempfer’s “Father Knows Best” then appeared in the newspaper, as well as in the Times’ Shore Magazine, and weekly on NWI.com. He wrote those columns until the summer of 2013.
Digging through hundreds of his “Father Knows Best” columns and blogs, Kaempfer assembled some of the best stories for this new book. Newly written material was added to help the book’s flow.
Kaempfer says: “This is definitely NOT a how-to-book. More like a how-not-to-book.”
Pat Colander, Shore Magazine’s Associate Publisher and Editor, says of the new book: “Kaempfer’s triumphant achievement is also his greatest success. The most famous, hilarious, suburban stay-at-home dad of all-time!”
WGN-AM weekend host Brian Noonan added: “It doesn’t matter whether you’re the father of sons or daughters, the stories in ‘Father Knows Nothing’ will hit close to home. I laughed out loud picturing Rick breaking up fights between his sons, flinging the top layer of a pizza across the kitchen and scaring his son out of lawn maintenance. The frequent laughs are balanced with emotionally touching stories and insights. This book is a wonderful record of an exciting, tumultuous time that all parents will relate to.”
“Father Knows Nothing” is now available for pre-orders at this link HERE, with the books shipping in just over three weeks from now. The price for the over-sized paperback is only $15.95.
