Less than a year after disgraced former Rep. Mel Reynolds ran a failed bid for Congress under the slogan of “redemption,” the convicted sex offender is again facing allegations of sexual misconduct, this time in Zimbabwe, according to immigration officials and state media reports. The state-owned newspaper The Herald reported that Reynolds was found with pornography when he was arrested in the southern African country on Monday. Possession of pornography is illegal in Zimbabwe.
When Congressman Reynolds got in trouble the first time (in 1995), the John Landecker show covered the news on WJMK radio. Reynolds’ accuser Beverly Heard was a 16-year-old girl, and Reynolds vehemently denied the charges…until the recordings of the telephone calls came out. They were graphic and their content couldn’t possibly be interpreted in any other way.
Landecker & the Legends recorded two songs about the case, “Calling Mel Reynolds” (to the tune of Donovan’s “Mellow Yellow”) and “The Beverly Heardbillies” (to the tune of “The Beverly Hillbillies”). We present those for you today, free of charge…
Those two songs didn’t make it on the “Records Truly Is My Middle Name” Soundtrack CD, but lots of other memorable interviews, bits, and songs from Landecker’s career. You can see the track list below…
“Records Truly Is My Middle Name (The Soundtrack)” is available right here at Eckhartz Press. It’s being sold as a fundraiser for The Chicago Lighthouse, which does great work for visually impaired and blind people. John’s father was blind, so it’s a charity he deeply believes in and supports.
And by the way, the CD is a perfect gift for the Landecker fan in your family, and it’s only $11.99.

I wish someone would post the song about Lorena Bobbie and hiding the butcher knife.
