Yesterday on his Facebook page, John Landecker recounted a story that happened to him on the streets of Chicago. He wrote: “I have a cute holiday story. I was walking down Lake Street in Chicago. I noticed a young woman just ahead of me struggling to drag two suitcases/luggage down the street. I asked her: “Do you want some help/” She looked at me and said:”Ok”. So I took one side of a piece of luggage and we dragged it down Lake Street. She was going to the CTA Green line about three blocks away. I found out she was a student at The Art Institute. She was going home for the holidays to her parents house in Milwaukee. I finally asked whats in here? She replied: ‘My laundry'”
That story reminded me of a great song that Landecker & The Legends recorded during the heyday of the television show “Friends”. It was the theme song of that show, written from the perspective of their parents. We called it “Parents of Friends” and it appeared on Landecker & the Legends Volume 2. You can listen to it below…
It didn’t make it on the CD, but lots of memorable interviews, bits, and songs of Landecker’s career did. You can see the track list below…
“Records Truly Is My Middle Name (The Soundtrack)” is available right here at Eckhartz Press. It’s being sold as a fundraiser for The Chicago Lighthouse, which does great work for visually impaired and blind people. John’s father was blind, so it’s a charity he deeply believes in and supports.
And by the way, the CD is a perfect stocking stuffer for the Landecker fan in your family, and it’s only $11.99.
